The Avenue Bar (1128 E. Washington Ave., 608/257-6877, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.–10:30 p.m. Sat., 8 a.m.–9 p.m. Sun., $6), with a number of tables along its huge bar and a newer hall decorated in a pastiche of Badger memorabilia and farm implements. It does a fish boil every day that is worth a try.
