Takhini Hot Springs

The odorless (no sulfur) Takhini Hot Springs (867/456-8000, mid-May–mid-June daily noon–10 p.m., mid-June–mid-Sept. daily 8 a.m.–10 p.m.) bubble out of the ground at 36°C (96°F) north of Whitehorse. They have been developed and are as popular with locals as they are with visitors.

All-day access is adult $8, senior $6.50, child $5.75. The attached café has some of the best chicken soup north of Vancouver] The hot springs campground costs $16.50 for tents and $25–35 for RVs and trailers (this is a good place to spend the night, take an early dip, then hit the road to Dawson).

Getting to Takhini Hot Springs

Get to Takhini Hot Springs by driving 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) north from Whitehorse toward Dawson City, then take the 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) side road to the west (it’s well signposted).
