Fred Henne Territorial Park
Forest-encircled Long Lake, opposite Yellowknife Airport, is used by visitors mainly for the excellent camping facilities, but it’s also a good example of the wilderness surrounding the city. The four-kilometer (2.5-mile) round-trip Prospector’s Trail, which begins from the campground, is a good way to experience the unique landscape.
You can hike to the park from the city center along the trails around Frame Lake.
