If you're digging all of the cool glass art around town and want to see if you have the chops to compete with Chihuly, take a walk to the end of Museum Row and enroll in a class at Tacoma Glassblowing Studio (114 S. 23rd St., 253/383-3499, $225 for two-day course).

The teachers patiently explain the process of blowing glass, from heating the raw material to blowing to shaping and more. Your first time around it might feel like helping Dad build a treehouse—there’s a lot of hand-holding early on for safety reasons—but the teachers are really friendly and you get to see the advanced artists making some cool stuff.
