Southcenter Mall, located south of the intersection of I-5 with I-405 in Tukwila (pop. 17,000). Major department stores here are Macy’s, Nordstrom, JCPenney, and Sears (the company’s "flagship store"), plus 150 other stores.
The Commons at Federal Way (S. 320th St., www.tcafw.com) has over 100 stores including Macy’s and Sears. Also in Federal Way is an REI (2565 S. Gateway Center Plaza, 253/941-4994, www.rei.com), with camping and backpacking supplies galore.
Downtown Renton
For a surprisingly complete selection of Western garb, be sure to tie up at the state’s largest cowboy shop, Renton Western Wear (724 S. 3rd, 425/255-3922 or 800/886-3922, www.rentonww.com). Antique lovers will have fun wandering through the downtown antique shops along Wells Avenue South near 3rd.
