Rent powerboats, skippered sailboats, sea kayaks, pedal boats, and other on-the-water vessels from Rent-a-Boat & Charters (8829 N. Harborview Dr., 253/858-7341). Gig Harbor Kayak Center (8809 N. Harborview Dr., 253/851-7987 or 888/429-2548) has sea-kayak rentals and tours.
Purdy Spit, located at the head of Henderson Bay (the upper end of Carr Inlet), is bisected by Highway 302 and is a favorite place to beachcomb, dig for clams, and windsurf.
In addition to Kopachuck State Park, camping is available at the private Gig Harbor RV Resort (9515 Burnham Dr., 253/858-8138 or 888/226-7688), which has RV sites for $37 and tent sites $20.
