Packwood
The small logging town of Packwood rubs elbows with some of the best scenery in the west. Situated where it is along Highway 12, it is within easy striking distance of Mount St. Helens’ back side, White Pass, and all of the major stops within Mt. Rainier National Park.
It is also literally an oasis amid a sea of wilderness areas—Tatoosh to the west, Goat Rocks to the east, William O. Douglas to the northeast, and Trapper Creek to the south.
Much of the remaining land around the town is still publicly owned by the Forest Service, giving mountain bikers, snowmobilers, and other recreational enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy the views as well.
