Just five minutes away from the turnoff to the White River entrance to the national park and the steep ascent to Sunrise, Alta Crystal Resort (68317 Hwy. 410 E, 360/663-2500 or 800/277-6475, www.altacrystalresort.com, $219–269 d) is one of the more popular year-round lodging picks near Crystal. The property features a hot tub and swimming pool, plus hiking and Nordic skiing trails. Kids love the nightly bonfires in the summer. Choose between one- and two-bedroom condo units in the central lodge or a luxurious honeymoon cabin.
