The finest food in the Mt. Rainier area (priced accordingly) is served at 
Alexander’s Country Inn (37515 Hwy. 706 E., 360/569-2300), where specialties include salmon, fresh trout (catch your own from the backyard pond), home-baked bread, and famous wild blackberry pie. They also offer a large wine list.
Rainier Overland Lodge (31811 Hwy. 706, 360/569-0851) serves big family-style breakfasts, a good chicken BLT sandwich, and a choice of all-American faves.
Get espresso coffees and sweets at Whittaker’s Bunkhouse (30205 Hwy. 706 E, 360/569-2439).
The Highlander Steakhouse and Lounge (30319 Hwy. 706 E, right in the center of town, 360/569-2953) has a standard menu of well-prepared Americana, including very tasty homemade soups, breads, and pies.
