Cafés and Delis
No place fills the morning urge for hearty grub more than Coastal Kitchen (429 15th Ave. E., 206/322-1145, www.chowfoods.com/coastal, 8 a.m.–11 p.m. daily, $9). Among the highlights are out-of-this-world pancakes. Or try Glo’s (1621 E. Olive Way, 206/324-2577, 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 7 a.m.–4 p.m. Sat.–Sun., $10), a fun little place with great eggs Benedict and Belgian waffles for breakfast.
For a light dinner or a wonderful weekend brunch, try Capitol Hill’s Table 219 (219 Broadway Ave. E., 206/328-4604, www.table219.com, 4:30–10 p.m. Tues.–Thurs., 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Fri.–Sat., 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Sun., $9), which serves inventive dishes such as andouille corndogs, bread salad, and a sandwich made with roasted garlic, gorgonzola, and sherry shallot marmalade.
When it comes to chocolates, it is pretty hard to beat Dilettante Chocolates (416 Broadway E., 206/329-6463, www.dilettante.com, $10), where you'll also find a light menu of soups, salads, and sandwiches. Dilettante has three other shops scattered around Seattle.
