During the summer it’s a good idea to make reservations several months ahead of time to be assured of a bed, particularly on weekends. San Juan Central Reservations (360/378-8773 or 888/999-8773, www.vacationsanjuanisland.com) is a fine source for up-to-date lodging information. It makes reservations for dozens of local B&Bs, inns, resorts, and vacation homes.
Call the Bed & Breakfast Association of San Juan Island hotline (360/378-3030, www.san-juan-island.net) for availability at 25 or so of the finest local B&Bs; its website has links to B&B homepages.
