The East End
Cafe Olga, inside the Orcas Island Artworks building near Olga, has inexpensive and delicious home-style lunches. The food covers a broad spectrum: sandwiches (including a great roasted eggplant and hummus version), vegetarian dishes, quiche, pasta, ethnic dishes, espresso, and its justly famous blackberry pie. Guaranteed to please, and the out-of-the-way location keeps the crowds at bay. You also won't want to miss the adjacent cooperative gallery.
The Mansion Room (five miles south of Eastsound, 360/376-2222 or 800/562-8820, www.rosarioresort.com, $18–24) at Rosario Resort & Spa, has spectacular views and romantic dining, plus a popular Friday night seafood buffet and Saturday prime rib buffet. Reservations are required.
More casual fare is offered at Rosario Resort’s Cascade Bar & Grill, which serves a lineup of seafood and chips, burgers, hot dogs, and other summertime favorites. The grill is connected with a small market, open 7 a.m.–9 p.m. daily.
