One of Port Townsend’s most remarkable bed-and-breakfast inns sits inside Manresa Castle (651 Cleveland St., 360/385-5750 or 800/732-1281, www.manresacastle.com, $109–229 s or d), a unique 1892 castle-hotel with antique furnishings and bay views. Each room is unique, with one-of-a-kind antique furnishings and lavish linens. A spacious tower room set within the castle’s turret is a favorite among honeymooners.

The eight guest rooms have private baths, and two suites have fireplaces and tubs. Elegant gourmet breakfasts will get you out of bed, guaranteed.

James House (1238 Washington St., 360/385-1238 or 800/385-1238, www.jameshouse.com, $145–210 s or d) is known for the dizzyingly elegant decor of its antique-laden guest rooms. Most offer commanding views of the town, as well as private baths and a relaxing garden that looks out on the water. There’s also a secluded bungalow with two beds ($250 d).
