Beachcombing is a favorite activity on the six miles of sandy beach along Ocean Shores, as is digging for razor clams in season (generally in March and October). Check with the chamber of commerce for the regulations and where to buy a license.

Rent boats and canoes from Summer Sails (360/289-2884) located on the canal at the south end of Point Brown Avenue. Rent mopeds and bicycles at three different places in town: Mac’s Mopeds and More (798 Ocean Shores Blvd., 360/289-9304), O. W. W. Inc. (Shores Mall on Chance à la Mer, 360/289-3830), and This & That (748 Ocean Shores Blvd., 360/289-0919).

Ride horseback along the shore on steeds provided by Chenois Creek Horse Rentals (360/533-5591). Or, for a unique equine experience, try out the “horse camp” run by Nan-Sea Stables (360/289-0194, $60). Adults and kids are all welcome at Nan-Sea’s ranch, where you’ll learn to care for horses, to properly muck a stall, and take a trail ride during this four-hour long camp.

Ocean Shores is a great place for kite flying, with strong offshore winds much of the year. If you didn’t bring your own, head to one of several local kite shops, including Cutting Edge Kites (676 Ocean Shores Blvd. NW, 360/289-0667, www.cuttingedgekites.com, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Sat., 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Sun.) and Cloud Nine Kite Shop (380 Hwy. 115, 360/289-4424, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Sat., 9 a.m.–7 p.m. Sun.).

At Canal and Albatross in Ocean Shores, Ocean Shores Golf Course (360/289-3357) is an 18-hole championship course open to the public.

Pacific Paradise Family Fun Center (767 Minard Ave., 360/289-9537, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Tues. and Thurs.–Fri., 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sat.–Sun., closed Wed., closed Dec. 1–Dec. 26) has miniature golf, an entertainment center, bumper boats, and more fun options for kids.

Camping

One of the only sites in town is Yesterday’s RV Park (512 Damon Rd., 360/289-9227, $16 tent, $25 full hookup), which offers sites for RVs and tents right on the beach. All sites have fire rings, and there are showers on premises.
