The guest rooms at Union’s elegant Alderbrook Resort and Spa (7101 E. Hwy. 106, 360/898-2200 or 800/622-9370, www.alderbrookresort.com, $190–420 s or d) are simply but beautifully decorated, many augmented by views of the Olympic mountains. Its spa offers traditional services plus unique treatments such as ancient Hawaiian lomilomi massage. The downstairs Restaurant at Alderbrook showcases local seafood, and the bar serves beer, wine, and cocktails.

Robin Hood Village (6780 E. Hwy. 106, 360/898-2163, $85–155 d) has seven cottages with hot tubs and kitchenettes. The smaller, older ones fit two people cozily, while the newer, larger ones are ideal for two couples. Also on-site is the Robin Hood Pub (6791 E. Hwy. 106, 360/898-4400, 5–9 p.m. Wed.–Sun.), which serves a full range of meals from a $12 burger and fries up to a $40 tenderloin. Great desserts, too. Union Country Store (5130 E. Hwy. 106, 360/898-2641) has a small deli.
