Sights and Recreation
Twanoh State Park (seven miles east of Union on Hwy. 106, 360/902-8500, www.parks.wa.gov) is a very popular spot for picnicking beneath tall trees, and swimming and water-skiing on relatively warm Hood Canal. The 182-acre park also has several miles of hiking trails along scenic Twanoh Creek, sturdy CCC-constructed structures from the 1930s, a tennis court, a concession stand with snacks and groceries, bathhouses, and camping in tent ($19) and RV ($26) sites with coin-operated showers.
The Skokomish Tribe operates the Lucky Dog Casino (19330 N. US Hwy. 101, 360/877-5656, 9 a.m.–midnight Sun.–Thurs., 9 a.m.–2 a.m. Fri.–Sat.), a smoke-free house featuring slots, blackjack, Pai Gow, and an amateur Texas Hold éEm league with free tournaments.
