Find a small, sunny picnic area and a boat launch at Freeland Park on Holmes Harbor, about two streets over from “downtown” Freeland—just look for the water. The beach is popular with clammers.
Double Bluff Beach Park, three miles south of Freeland, is an interesting place to explore and a good place to find big chunks of soft coal that eroded from the cliff. Do not try to climb these unstable bluffs; a number of people have been injured trying to do so.
