Seattle City Light Tours
Seattle City Light (206/684-3030, www.ci.seattle.wa.us/light/tours/skagit, $55 adults, $50 seniors, $45 teens, $40 kids 6–12, free for kids under 6) has been offering regularly scheduled tours of its Skagit facilities since 1928.
A four-hour guided tour begins with a slide presentation at the Skagit Tour Center in Diablo, followed by a 558-foot ride up Sourdough Mountain on an antique incline railway that was used to haul supplies during the construction of the Diablo Dam.
Then, enjoy a cruise across deep-green Diablo Lake and back to an all-you-can-eat dinner. Tours leave Thursday–Monday from mid-June through August, and on weekends only in September. Reservations are strongly recommended.
A 2.5-hour Diablo Lake Adventure cruise ($25 adults, $20 seniors, $12 kids 6–12, free under age 5) is also offered Saturday–Sunday from mid-June to early September, also on Fridays July–August. A fuel surcharge of $5 adults and $3 seniors (not charged for kids) is now added to each tour.
