Accommodations and Food
Step out onto the deck at
The Country Cedar Inn (5732 Robe Menzel Rd., 360/691-3830, www.countrycedarinn.com, $99–149 d) and get a close-up view of Mt. Pilchuck and Three Fingers. Nestled in the foothills of the Snohomish Cascades, this quiet bed-and-breakfast is set within a beautiful cedar-sided home built with lumber milled from trees cut right on the forested five-acre property. All rooms come with private bathrooms; in addition to a home-style breakfast each morning, guests are treated to homemade cookies in the afternoon and sometimes dessert in the evening. There is also an option to order a four-course dinner in the evening.
Walk down the main drag to find several places with standard fare, including Ike’s Diner (101 W Stanley St., 360/691-6636, Mon.–Fri. 8 a.m.–8 p.m., Sat.–Sun. 8 a.m.–7 p.m.) where the Formica-and-burger atmosphere is straight from the 1950s. It has good chicken burgers and fries, and even a decent teriyaki.
The Granite Falls Farmers Marketplace (360/691-6173) comes to town noon–4 p.m. Sunday late June–September.
