Visit the Lake Chelan Museum (Woodin Ave. and Emerson St., Chelan, 509/682-5644, June–Sept. daily 1–4 p.m., by appointment the rest of the year, free) to see displays of pioneer and Native American relics, and a big collection of colorful apple-box labels.
The most interesting building in Chelan is St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church (Woodin Ave.), a charming log structure completed in 1899. The architect remains in dispute, though there is evidence that it may have been Stanford White, the designer of New York’s Madison Square Garden. A carillon rings out the hours daily. Also of interest downtown is the Ruby Theater, built in 1913.
