A classic Queen Anne Victorian built in 1889, A Touch of Europe B&B (220 N. 16th Ave., 509/454-9775,888/438-7073, www.winesnw.com/toucheuropeb&b.htm, $123–136 s or d) serves candlelit European breakfasts (included in rate), high tea ($30), and lavish five- to seven-course dinners ($50) in its elegant dining room. The German- and English-speaking owners provide an acre of shady grounds and three well-appointed guest rooms in a relaxing adults-only environment.
At the Birchfield Manor B&B (2018 Birchfield Rd., 509/452-1960 or 800/375-3420, www.birchfieldmanor.com, $119–220 d), guests may sample from a wine cellar amply stocked with local vintages. The biggest local B&B, Birchfield plumps the pillows for guests in four luxurious rooms in the 1910 main house and four adjacent, newer cottages. All rooms have private baths with whirlpool tubs, and some are equipped with gas fireplaces and private decks. The parklike grounds contain a swimming pool. Breakfasts are memorable, and dinners in the restaurant here are some of the finest around (Thurs.–Sat., $27–38 for full dinners). Ask about the golf packages in partnership with the Apple Tree Resort.
Orchard Inn B&B (1207 Pecks Canyon Dr., 509/966-1283, www.orchardinnbb.com, $109–129 d) is a lovely contemporary home tucked away in an orchard of cherry trees. The three guest rooms have private baths, private entrances, and the use of outdoor gazebos. A full, slow-food breakfast is served. The friendly bilingual (German and English) owners welcome kids and well-behaved dogs on approval.
