Wine Country Tours

Washington’s wine country is filled to the brim with fantastic vineyards and wineries, but the true connoisseur will need to put some miles on the odometer in order to get a good survey of the scene. One of the safest and most relaxing ways to enjoy wine country is to hitch a ride aboard a tour. These tours start from the region they focus on, unless otherwise noted.

Yakima Valley, Tri-Cities, Walla Walla

Sacco Tours (509/783-7060, www.saccotours.com, $300 for a six-hour tour for up to four poeple) runs small group tours aboard shuttle vans through wineries in your choice of Yakima Valley, the Tri-Cities, or Walla Walla.

A+ Pacific Limousine (509/438-9625, www.limo01.com, $69–79 per person) runs scheduled tours Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday that head out to six Tri-Cities wineries and stop for lunch at Alexandria Nicole Cellars. Lunch and snacks are included.

Blue Stocking Tours (509/522-4717, $430 for a six-hour trip for up to four people) wanders the wineries of Walla Walla, treating guests to a boxed lunch along the way.

Columbia River Gorge

Swirl Tours (541/399-6676, www.swirlwineclub.com, $250 for a six-hour trip for two) start in Portland and cover Columbia River Gorge wineries on both the Washington and Oregon sides.

Wenatchee

BonVivant Wine Tours (206/437-1298, www.bonvivanttours.com, $79 per person) offers a laundry list of wine tours throughout the state, including tours in Wenatchee and Leavenworth. Pickups can be arranged in Wenatchee or Seattle ($50 more per person).
