Columbia Park (509/783-3711, www.ci.kennewick.wa.us, open year-round) forms a 609-acre border along the south shore of the Columbia River (Lake Wallula) in Kennewick, with four boat ramps for fishing and waterskiing, an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, a picnic area, nature trails, and campsites ($7) and RV spaces ($11).

One of the main attractions is a six-mile paved path that’s a favorite of cyclists, in-line skaters, joggers, and lovers out for a riverside stroll. Two other popular spots are the Columbia Park Family Fishing Pond and Playground of Dreams. The pond was built by a consortium of community groups, and the playground was constructed in five days with help from over 5,000 volunteers.
