Camping
The nearest public campground is 27 miles east at Wanapum State Recreation Area in the Columbia Basin. Closer to Ellensburg, RV spaces are available at the Kittitas Valley Event Center (800/426-5340) during the summer months.
More camping and RV spaces are available at E&J Resort, operated in cooperation with Days Inn (901 Berry Rd., 509/933-1500 or 888/889-9870, $30, continental breakfast $3 extra) and Yakima River RV Park (791 Ringer Loop, 509/925-4734, www.yakimarv.com).
Rates are variable, based on the amount of electricity desired, ranging from $20 per night for no power up to $30 for 50 amps. The park is set up on a working ranch with three stalls available to guests traveling with horses. Guests can fly fish for free on the property.
