Main Street

There is no better place to soak up Road Town’s charm, such as it is, than on narrow and winding Main Street, home to historic buildings, museums, boutiques, and cafés. It is a wonderful place for an early morning or late afternoon stroll and has the best shopping on Tortola.
Explore Main Street on foot; it simply is not practical or pleasant to navigate it in a car. The sights presented here can easily be turned into a walking tour that begins at Old Government House, on the western end of Main Street, and concludes at the House of Assembly in the center of town. From there you can easily find the Joseph Reynold O’Neal Botanical Gardens about two blocks away. Plan on at least one hour to do this one-mile walk, more if you spend a lot of time in the shops and museums.
