There is no airport on St. John; the only way to get here is by boat.
From St. Thomas
Transportation Services (340/776-6282) and Varlack Ventures (340/776-6412) operate ferries between Red Hook, St. Thomas, and Cruz Bay. Ferries depart Red Hook daily at 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., and then hourly 8 a.m.–midnight. Return ferries leave Cruz Bay every hour 6 a.m.–11 p.m. The fare for the 20-minute ride is $6.10 one-way.
From Charlotte Amalie, daily ferries leave hourly 9–11 a.m., hourly 1–4 p.m., and at 4:30 p.m. Fare for the 45-minute trip is $10 one-way for adults.
The rates given here include a fuel surcharge, which varies with the price of fuel. You can expect rates to change from time to time.
Caneel Bay and the Westin provide private ferries that bring guests directly to the resort.
From the British Virgin Islands
Inter-Island Boat Services (Tortola, 284/495-4166, and Cruz Bay, 340/776-6597) provides daily ferry service from West End, Tortola, to Cruz Bay for $45 round-trip. The trip takes about 20 minutes; boats make the journey between the islands four times daily Monday through Saturday and three times on Sundays.
