On its way to Burrard Inlet, Lynn Creek flows through a deep canyon straddled by the 240-hectare (930-acre) Lynn Canyon Park. Spanning the canyon is the “other” suspension bridge. The one here is half as wide as its more famous counterpart, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, over the Capilano River, but it’s a few meters higher and, best of all, it’s free.
An ancient forest of Douglas fir surrounds the impressive canyon and harbors a number of hiking trails. Be sure to visit Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre (3663 Park Rd., 604/990-3755, daily 10 a.m.–5 p.m., free), where displays, models, and free slide shows and films explore plant and animal ecology.
Lynn Canyon Park is seven kilometers (4.3 miles) east of the Capilano River. To get there by car, take the Lynn Valley Road exit off Highway 1, east of the Lions Gate Bridge. By public transport, take the SeaBus to Lonsdale Quay, then bus number 228 or 229.
