It’s three in the morning and you haven’t had an enchilada in nearly 12 hours. You can’t sleep, and when you do doze off your troubled, shallow dreams are filled with rice and beans, guacamole, carne asada burritos, and chiles rellenos. Don’t panic. On nearly every corner in Tucson there’s a Nico’s taco shop (or some similar joint that is usually passable but not as good in my view), and they exist to fulfill late-night cravings.
The food here is a bit on the greasy side, but it is so tasty and filling and satisfying that nobody cares. Not surprisingly, you’ll usually find the drive-thru crowded shortly after the bars close down.
