Downtown and University District
Trip Ideas
You’ll find breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices from all over the globe in the Old Pueblo’s downtown and university district. Some of the restaurants downtown exist primarily to serve the lunch crowd in the business and government districts, but most of the best places keep the same hours as restaurants in other neighborhoods.
If none of the suggestions given here appeal, stroll up and down 4th Avenue or head over to Main Gate Square; both areas have dozens of restaurants, one of which is sure to whet your appetite. I can’t think of a single place in this neighborhood where the “Tucson Casual” dress code (shorts or jeans and whatever shoes you desire, including sandals—basically an emphasis on staying cool and comfortable and on active, outdoor living), or lack thereof, wouldn’t be acceptable.
