A hiker’s and bird-watcher’s paradise east of town near Saguaro National Park East, Hacienda del Desierto is a wonderland of hacienda-style details and quiet comfort for anyone looking to escape to the desert for a few days.
The four rooms ($124–279 d) are tastefully decorated with Southwestern, Mexican, and Spanish colonial touches, all with private baths, private entrances, and kitchenettes. The courtyard patio here is overflowing with greenery, and there’s a private nature trail on the inn’s 16 acres where you might be able to see a desert creature or two.
TVs, DVD players, and Internet access are available, as are neuromuscular and aromatherapy massages.
