The small Fort Lowell Museum is dedicated to the stories of the Apache wars of the late 19th century. There are still a few crumbling adobe ruins left behind that give a sense of what the fort was like just before it was abandoned in 1891, after the end of the struggle between the army and various Apache tribes.
Displays inside the reconstructed commanding officer’s quarters tell the whole history of the those wars and show what life was like then, with pictures, artifacts, and text.
