50-Year Trail
Trip Ideas
Golder Ranch area
Start at parking lot on Golder Ranch Rd.
Some of the best desertland single tracks in Southern Arizona can be found about 25 miles north of Tucson in Golder Ranch area. A series of rocky, undulating trails through desert, the 50-Year Trail is great fun for experts and beginners alike.
You’ll need your state-trust land permit for this ride (although I’ve never seen anybody out there checking permits or anything). To purchase one ($15 for a year) go to www.land.state.az.us.
Take Oracle Road north through Oro Valley and turn right on Golder Ranch Road; follow it until you get to a dirt parking lot and a cattle guard. The trail is just beyond the cattle guard.
