It also mounts a half dozen special exhibits each year; previous ones have showcased the art of George Rodrigue and David Macaulay.
The Dixon is an easy place to spend several hours, immersed first in art and then in walking the paths that explore the house’s 17 acres of beautifully tended gardens. There is a cutting garden, woodland garden, and formal gardens, among others.
Admission to the Dixon is free on Saturday 10 a.m.–noon.
