A Civil War–era earthen fort and three replica cannons are the historical attractions at the Knoxville city park on the south side of the Tennessee River. Panels explain the fort’s significance during the battles of Knoxville that took place in the fall of 1863.
Visitors will also enjoy the view (especially during the fall and winter, when the trees have shed their leaves) of the Knoxville skyline, and the view of an old quarry.
Fort Dickerson Park is located three-quarters of a mile south of the Henley Street Bridge on Chapman Highway (U.S. 441). Look for the signs on your right.
