Knoxville is an ideal destination for a long weekend: Spend two days exploring downtown attractions around Gay Street and the World’s Fair Park, and then choose a destination outside of town—such as the Museum of Appalachia, Oak Ridge, or Clinton—for your third day. For the best atmosphere, find a hotel within walking distance of Gay Street and the Old City so you can walk to restaurants and music venues.
Whatever you do, don’t plan your trip to coincide with a University of Tennessee home football game unless that’s your purpose for coming.
