For a meal in Oak Ridge head to Jackson Square, where you can join the crowds at Big Ed’s Pizza (101 Broadway, 865/482-4885, Mon.–Sat. 11 a.m.–11:30 p.m., $8–15), the city’s most famous restaurant and a well-loved pizza parlor.
Also on Jackson Square is The Soup Kitchen (47 E. Tennessee Ave., 865/482-3525, Mon.–Fri. 11 a.m.–7:30 p.m., Sat. 11 a.m.–2 p.m., $5–12), which serves excellent sandwiches, salads, and soups. Dozens of chain restaurants exist along Oak Ridge’s main drag.
