Flora and Fauna
Encyclopedias are written about Tennessee’s rich and diverse menagerie of animals and plants. The eastern mountains are one of the most biologically diverse areas in the United States, and whole volumes are devoted to their flora and fauna.
Middle and West Tennessee share the more typical plants and animals of the Deep South. Western Tennessee’s cypress swamps are rich depositories of plant and animal life, while the plains are important for agriculture.
