With its towering exterior of dark glass Passion 5 looks more like a museum or gallery than a restaurant, and indeed there is art of a sort being practiced here—the art of dessert-making.

Step in and be greeted by a diverse and intoxicating array of temptations displayed by this combination bakery, pastry kitchen, and chocolatier, from fresh, nutty breads to smooth puddings, flaky danishes, ornate cakes, and rich truffles.

Prices are high, but Passion 5’s creations are of consistently excellent quality.

Space on the lower floors is limited—head upstairs to sit down and choose from a range of coffees and teas to accompany whatever sweet treats you’ve picked up. The building’s café section also serves a few pastas and risottos, but experienced diners recommend sticking to the coffee and desserts, especially since service can be spotty and other orders often result in long waits.
