From its end at La Fonda, the historic Old Santa Fe Trail trade route runs off to the east; just past Paseo de Peralta and the small Santa Fe River, it passes through Barrio de Analco, one of Santa Fe’s oldest residential neighborhoods, established by the Tlaxcala Indians, who came from Mexico as servants of the first Spanish settlers.

The road then runs past the state capitol and to a junction with Old Pecos Trail, the main route to I-25 (and historically the cattle drivers’ route to Mexico).
