Wet

One of San Juan’s most glamorous bars is Wet, atop the Water Club hotel (2 Calle Tartak, 787/728-3666 or 888/265-6699, fax 787/728-3610, www.waterclubsanjuan.com). This posh rooftop bar looks like the set for The Real World, and the clientele are just as young and trendy as that show’s cast members.

Huge white leather sofas and beds arranged around tiny tables under a white awning set the tone for its chill vibe. The minimal lighting is limited to elaborate Indonesian lanterns and candles, which complement the panoramic view of the city lights.

Sushi and supersweet martinis, with porn-star names such as Mango Do Me and Mojito Lips, are typical fare. If you need further proof that this is the place to see and be seen, Donatella Versace was reportedly spotted in the ladies’ room.

On the first floor of The Water Club is Liquid, a more intimate bar that shares space with the hotel’s restaurant, Tangerine. The attraction here is the interesting wall behind the bar—it’s made from corrugated tin over which water pours all night long.
