Festival Nacional Indígena de Jayuya (Plaza Nemesio R. Canales, calles Nemesio R. Canales and Figuera, 787/828-1241) is an annual three-day celebration of the Taíno culture beginning November 19. Participants don Taíno-style clothing, prepare traditional foods, and perform traditional music and dances. More than 100 artisans sell handmade crafts as well, and many demonstrations and ceremonies are held.

Other festivals include El Festival del Pueblo del Tomate held in mid-April to celebrate the municipality’s production of tomatoes. Festivities include games, music, and food kiosks. The Jayuya Patron Saint Festival honors the Virgen de la Monserrate with religious processions, music, and food kiosks in early September.

Christmas is celebrated with a Magic Forest featuring large holiday dioramas and storytelling December 1–January 15, and Three Kings Day on January 5 features traditional Christmas foods, music, and children’s activities.

All festivals are held in Complejo Deportivo Filiberto García on Carretera 144 at the entrance to Jayuya. For information call 787/828-1241.
