Museo Luis Muñoz Rivera (Calle Ubaldino Font, Barranquitas, 787/857-30230, Wed.–Sun. 8 a.m.–noon and 1–4 p.m., $1) is dedicated to one of Puerto Rico’s most celebrated native sons, Luis Muñoz Rivera, a poet, journalist, politician, and defender of the island’s independence both under Spanish and American rule.
Inside this traditional Puerto Rican–style home built in 1857 are many artifacts of Rivera’s life, including newspaper clippings, his impressive two-sided walnut desk from 1893, his death mask, and the 1912 Pierce-Arrow that transported his body from his funeral services to his burial site in Mausoleo Luis Muñoz Rivera (Calle Padre Berrios, Tues.–Sat. 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.).
