A relative newcomer to Sedona’s gourmet dining scene, Fork in the Road—American Bistro (7000 Hwy. 179, 928/284-9322, 4–9 p.m. Tues.–Sun., $14–28) has quickly established itself as a culinary force to be reckoned with. The modern, understated decor of white banquettes and dark woods sets the tone for the elegant, brilliantly crafted menu. Start with the Guinness Irish onion soup with herb croutons and Irish cheddar cheese or the apple and arugula salad with mint, toasted walnuts, radicchio, and crème fraîche-lemon dressing. The entrées are innovative takes on bistro classics, like duck cassoulet, roasted chicken, and lamb with an orange, honey-soy marinade. Try to get to the restaurant early to enjoy a cocktail and the creative tapas at the bar.
For delicious, no-fuss steak sandwiches and reubens, join the locals at PJ’s Village Pub (40 W. Cortez Dr., 928/284-2250, 10 a.m.–2 a.m. daily, $8–14). You’ll find bikers, hikers, and golfers huddled around the closely packed tables or at the popular bar. The tavern is known for its nightly specials—Pot Roast Tuesdays, Baby Back Rib Wednesdays, etc.—though the Friday night fish frys have become a weekly ritual in the Village of Oak Creek.
