For visitors who would like to stay near Scottsdale WestWorld or the FBR Open’s TPC golf course, there are a few affordable options in North Scottsdale. SpringHill Suites (17020 N. Scottsdale Rd., 480/922-8700, www.marriott.com, $160–200 d) may lack quirky character, but its practical, large rooms are clean and have microwaves. The neighboring Sleep Inn (16630 N. Scottsdale Rd., 480/998-9211, www.sleepinn.com, $100–130 d) offers special packages during the Phoenix Film Festival. Both hotels are within walking distance of the TPC golf course and a host of restaurants and bars. They offer free daily breakfast, pleasant pools, and Wi-Fi access.
A former high-end apartment complex, the recently upgraded Xona Resort Suites (7677 E. Princess Blvd., 888/222-1059, www.xonaresort.com, $179–200 d) offers loads of space in North Scottsdale. Large groups of friends and business travelers with families in tow will appreciate the large living rooms, full kitchens, and one- to four-bedroom suites—not to mention the four pools and generous balconies.
