Founded in 1901 as the Site and Relic Society of Germantown, the Germantown Historical Society offers a wealth of information about the history of German Township (which now consists of the neighborhoods of Germantown, Mt. Airy, and Chestnut Hill).
The Germantown Historical Society serves as a good starting point for visits to the area’s historic sites and also contains a small museum and extensive library and archive collections. Many of the more than 50,000 historical objects, documents, and photographs are on display and available to the public.
