Former bike messengers Roland and Ellie (the R. and E. in the company name) founded this one-of-a-kind local company in 1998 on their quest to create the perfect messenger bag. Using only the highest-quality materials, R.E. Load Baggage carefully constructs messenger and courier bags, backpacks, and just about any other type of bag that holds stuff.

The best part is, each bag is custom-designed and made by hand to reflect the needs and desires of the lucky owner-to-be. Specialized orders can be placed in the store, online, or over the phone, or you can choose from a small ready-made selection.

The bags are pricey (upwards of $250), but they are made to last a lifetime, or close anyway. Each has its own special flair chosen by you, so you’re not just paying for a bag—you’re paying for an extension of your personality to wear over your shoulder.

R.E. Load has opened a second store in Seattle and its bags are now sold at select retail stores throughout the country.
