“Style never felt so good” is the motto at Benjamin Lovell, a small chain that stocks its shelves with a diverse range of modern footwear, from Mephisto, Ecco, and Dansko to stylish sneaks like Vans and Nike Air Force Ones—the sole unifying theme is their dedication to comfort. Prices can get high, but it’s worth every penny for the quality and durability.
The Rittenhouse location on 18th Street has a large regular and discount selection, and the South Street branch (Map 5, 318 South St., 215/238-1969, Mon.–Thurs. 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Fri.–Sat. 10 a.m.–9 p.m., Sun. 11 a.m.–6 p.m.) has a great bargain section in the back, where prices are dramatically slashed at the end of the season.
There’s also a location in Manayunk (Map 9, 4305 Main St., 215/487-3747, Mon.–Thurs. 10 a.m.–7 p.m., Fri.–Sat. 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Sun. 11 a.m.–6 p.m.).
