Dining on a docked ship offers the romantic experience of being surrounded by water without the seasickness that comes with a typical dinner cruise. Built in 1904, the Moshulu had been used for shipping goods; it served as a warehouse on water; and it was confiscated twice during wars over the course of its long life.
But interesting as its history is, the real reason to come is for quality food in the heart of Penn’s Landing. What could have easily become a cheesy tourist trap is instead an elegant restaurant offering classics like filet mignon, crab cakes, and salmon in updated, tasteful variations. On Sunday, an upscale buffet brunch is offered for $30 per person, and while prices are a bit steep, the experience is memorable.
To experience the boat for less money, visit the Bongo Bar on the upper deck for drinks and a lower-priced, tasty bar menu, with live music at times.
