Sisters, Philadelphia’s only dedicated lesbian bar, is tucked away in the alley behind Woody’s. The bartenders know how to keep the liquor flowing on both floors of the large two-level space. Tables off the main bar offer a place to sit and chat, while the upstairs has a rowdier dance-club atmosphere.
Thursday offers what is possibly Philadelphia’s most economical invitation for public drunkenness, where a $10 cover gets you eight (yes, eight!) drink tickets, a buffet, karaoke, and dancing. While the wait for drinks can be long, and they are served in small plastic cups, it is still an unbeatable deal.
Gay or straight, this is one of the most happening dance floors in the city on Thursday night.
