The great thrill of Fergie’s Pub—aside from the well-priced and varied selection of good beer and pub grub—is seeing Philly’s favorite red-bearded Irish bartender in the flesh. A big name on the local scene, Fergie even has his own advice column in the local weekly newspaper, PW.
The Irish bar has the attitude of a neighborhood dive bar with zero pretentiousness, even though it’s in the heart of Center City and offers a much nicer setting and better food.
Fergie’s has entertainment and events on most nights, from various live music acts to the popular Open Mike Night (Monday at 9:30 p.m.) which draws a regular, talented crowd. On Tuesday or Thursday night, go upstairs to play or watch the most competitive Quizzo game in the city.
Regulars come every week to reserve their favorite table, so come by 8:30 p.m. for the 9:30 game and bring your smartest friends. It’s free to play; first-place winner gets a $50 credit off the night’s bill, and second place gets $25 off.
